Treatment of Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) Infections
In the treatment of Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) infections, the body's defense mechanisms include the herpes simplex virus (HSV) and the varicella-zoster virus. These two viruses are responsible for the growth of genital and cold sores, shingles, and chickenpox. The HSV causes genital herpes by enveloping the virus in a smallhouse in the mouth or around the eyes. The HSV can cause painful sores (famida sores) or blisters (famida pischas) around the mouth. The varicella-zoster virus (VZV) causes chickenpox in people with the herpes simplex virus. The risk of transmitting the virus to others when they are pregnant, or during the first 6 months of pregnancy is higher than that from exposure to the HSV. For these reasons, it is crucial to take this medication prophylactically, especially during the first 6 months of pregnancy.
